The Boston Mills / Brandywine Ski Patrol is made up of over 250 trained volunteers. We provide skier assistance and promote ski safety at the two areas located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Our education programs will offer you the chance to learn about outdoor emergency care, search and rescue, mountaineering, ski and toboggan handling, lift evacuation, avalanche and other interesting ski related topics. NSP and local patrol education programs are an exciting challenge, both in the classroom and on the slopes.

Just as important as the ski patrollers’ role as a rescuer, is the part that you will play in making skiing a safer and more enjoyable activity for everyone. Your presence on the hill and your actions on behalf of area management will help inspire skiers of all ages to ski responsibly and have more fun. As a Patroller, you will have an impact on the future of skiing.

We accept skiers and nonskiers for membership. You must be an above average skier for on-the-hill assignments. Nonskiers provide emergency care in the patrol room and enjoy the same privileges as skiers. What is the National Ski Patrol? The National Ski Patrol was founded in 1938. During World War II, the NSP was contracted by the War Department to recruit and train a special combat unit called the Tenth Mountain Division. In 1980 the NSP was granted a federal charter.

Today, the National Ski Patrol is represented at 98% of all ski resorts and has over 27,000 members. We are a leading partner in the ski and outdoor recreation community as an adaptable resource of valuable individuals.

We are a member driven association. Our members support and participate in the ski and outdoor recreation community by providing emergency care, search and rescue, and education services. The National Ski Patrol has developed partnerships with the National Ski Area Association, the Professional Ski Instructors of America, and others.

National Ski Patrol members are people with a strong desire to help others. People who want to learn and use emergency care skills, improve their skiing skills, and help make skiing safer for all.

We Educate, We Communicate, We Participate

"A passion for skiing, compassion for people"NSP membership requires completion of the Outdoor Emergency Care training class and a Professional Rescuer CPR class. This educational program starts in April and is about 120 hours in length.    These classes will prepare you treat injuries and illnesses with expertise and confidence. This training may help you save a life on or off the hill.

There is nothing more rewarding then putting in a hard day of work and having a good time doing it. You will become a respected part of the ski industry. You will perfect your skiing skills, and you will make friendships that will last a lifetime.Start a new adventure in skiing, join the Ski Patrol.Yes, I would like to join the team.
